Constructing a logo
Reece Construction Company has been building good roads and bridges in Kansas for over 80 years. They wanted to update their image with a new logo that conveyed their strength and longevity, keeping the red and black color scheme of what they had been using. The new look needed to have substantial visual weight, be adaptable for use on printed materials, digital communications, signage, and uniforms, in both color and black and white. We met several times via Zoom to discuss ideas, talking about excavators, cranes, box culverts (which seemed like a perfect enclosure for a big red capital R), and other ideas related to their business. After a lot of research and sketching, I presented them with four options for their new identity (I usually only do three, but I was on a roll!). They opted to go with the box culvert-inspired design (#4). We revised the typography so that it was heavier, adjusted the color, and here you see the final design. And the client was nice enough to send me a photo of their new sign going up!
